Do You Have to Pay More For Healthy Food?

We are all eager to live healthier lives, right up until we see the price on that joint of organic grass fed beef… then we are not so sure. Yet with some smart choices then you can eat a lot more healthily, without it costing you anymore than you pay at the moment, here are some tips to help you out:

Eat more fish - That’s right, fish is good for you, even if you don’t buy the super expensive wild kind. So when you are at the supermarket next, then consider getting some tins of tuna for a healthy baguette you can take to work. Try and get more fish in your shopping, even if you are buying microwave meals, then get a few of them with fish in.

Take your own lunch to work - If you don’t take your own lunch to work then unless you have a work cafeteria with really healthy options (rare) then you are going to be sucked into getting less healthy foods, and more than likely paying more for them! So bag your own lunch, you can put a little treat of chocolate in there, but also have a sandwich and some fruit and maybe some nuts, that is healthy, tasty and cheap too!

Don’t be afraid of discounted goods - There is no need to shy away from discounted goods, as long as you are going to use them promptly after purchase then they are usually perfect, and they will save you a bundle as the supermarkets just want to get rid of them to make more space so they give huge discounts. Find out when they start to discount the bakery goods and then you can time your visits by that and grab some bargain bagels etc ready for your lunch the next day.

Don’t forget you can get fruit and veg that is discounted too, just make sure you have a good look through and only choose the items in the best condition, then take your bargains home and use them asap.

Buy straight from the farmer - There are usually farmers markets around if you look, and if you have farms near you then they may have their own shops right on site. This means not only do you get great tasting healthy food that hasn’t been transported across the country and loaded with preservatives, but you also get it cheaper too as they don’t have to sell it to a big supermarket chain for pennies who then load the price up.

There you have some quick and easy ways to give yourself and your family a healthier diet, and in the end you could actually be saving money! Don’t jump in with both feet and try to do all these things at once though or you’ll be overwhelmed, instead gradually add them in over the course of a year, and it’ll gradually become second nature and you’ll wonder how you ever managed before!

If you really want to be more healthy then you need to start introducing exercise into your lifestyle as well as healthier food, check out this Fat Burning Furnace review to see a popular exercise system.

Basil, The Undisputed Kings of The Kitchen

Basil herbs is actually derived from a Greek word which means “King” (or basileus). Some origins of the word suggest that ancient Greeks and Romans associated the word and thus the herb as something malicious. Some myths concluded that one must yell and curse before any herb plants would grow from the seeds. While that was proven to be untrue, it’s hard to deny that basil herbs are still a rather pungent spice, if not particularly angry.

In later times, basil came to represent love, and men in Italy would give women a sprig of basil as a romantic gesture. When it comes to cuisine, basil is usually identified with Mediterranean food, along with Italian and Thai specialties. However, did you know that this herb actually came from India? Yes, it was Vishnu and Krishna’s own personal choice.

Getting Your Basil to Grow

Basil herb plants grow as perennials in some tropical regions and are often used as annuals in temperate zones. The first and most important thing to understand about basil herbs is that the plant is very sensitive to temperature. It is best grown in warm and sunny weather. In fact, it’s more preferable to keep pots or gardens indoors rather than expose it to outdoor weather.

As far as soil goes, they prefer well drained soil along with good quality compost or well rotted manure. Basil requires a steady water supply to grow as well as adequate drainage. A lack of light as well as any sort of drought will quickly wilt the plant. In addition, gardeners will have to mulch just the right amount so as to maintain the soil, but not do so prematurely. When the plant starts to flourish it’s time to cut the stems back and cut off the flowers.

Removing the flowers is something that has to happen, that’s what gives basil to the world. If yiou get the opportunity, try the flavor of basil leaves just before the plant flowers.

The Many Uses of Basil

Although basil herbs do posses antviral & antibacterial benefits they’re not generally used as a homeopathic extract, they are best known for their benefits to cooking. Part of the mint family they do actually aid digestive processes as well as brewing a pot of tea.

With more then 60 varieties of basil, they say that there are many more yet to be unearthed. The most common of the variety used in the kitchen is sweet basil although lemon basil is a common ingredient for some soups & sweets. The basil family includes many varieties including, cinnamon, African blue & Opal.

Some of the basil available at retail outlets has been out for the ground for a long period and has lost its oomph. The benefit of having your own herb garden is your basil will be super fresh & full of flavor.

With fresh basil in your kitchen, your cooking will take on a new dimension!

New Abstract On High Blood Pressure And Salt: Symptoms And Treatments

Someone already mentioned to you that eating salt is deadly for you. It is completely accurate when it comes to eating regular table salt, but it is different when it comes to nature given raw sea salts. This article will help you understand more about different types of salts and ways of improving your heart health applying certain “salty techniques”.

Salt or sodium chloride utilized in many ways for instance chlorine production, manufacture of soaps and textiles. At the same time as salt is constructive in other spheres of our lives, high sodium consumption is clinically proven to be destructive to our body in high concentrations. People with high blood pressure are at higher risks.

The main reason for that is salt intake produces Nitric Oxide in our body. Nitric Oxide is a chemical responsible for many pathological and physiological processes in mammals. Too much of Nitric oxide (NO) can be detrimental and toxic that can contribute to vascular tissue collapse, diabetes, arthritis and other conditions.

Keep in mind that there is a big difference between regular table salt and sea salts. Regular salt is chemically bleached and deadly to our body. On the other hand, organic salts are natural and contain all of the vital minerals and nutrients that our body needs. That is why chose your salt wisely because your body still needs some salt to function properly.

Several health organizations advise customers to take on average 4gm of salt daily. Yet, an average person consumes double of the recommended dosage.

Ways to lower your salt intake:

Following from Dr. Sanders research from University of Maryland, a good indication of too much salt is when a person can taste it.

The first step is to change ordinary table salt to more pure version of salt. “Sea salt” or “Gray salt” can be substituted instead of using ordinary table salt. This is the cleanest type of salt without any chemicals added to it.

Second, by removing salt shaker from the table or changing it “salt imitator” can dramatically reduce salt consumption. As a rule of thumb avoid processed foods. Many processed foods, canned foods already contain too much salt, so by staying away from these products and by paying attention to nutritious boxes an average person can change daily sodium intake.

Moreover, when you are eating out ask for the ordered meal to be prepared with minimum or no salt at all. When you get your dish you can adjust the amount of salt to your taste. Do not worry of what waiter is going to think, worrying about your health is the most crucial part.

New studies show that people with high salt consumption have a higher risk factor in developing high blood pressure than genetically inclined people.
