Do You Have to Pay More For Healthy Food?
We are all eager to live healthier lives, right up until we see the price on that joint of organic grass fed beef… then we are not so sure. Yet with some smart choices then you can eat a lot more healthily, without it costing you anymore than you pay at the moment, here are some tips to help you out:
Eat more fish - That’s right, fish is good for you, even if you don’t buy the super expensive wild kind. So when you are at the supermarket next, then consider getting some tins of tuna for a healthy baguette you can take to work. Try and get more fish in your shopping, even if you are buying microwave meals, then get a few of them with fish in.
Take your own lunch to work - If you don’t take your own lunch to work then unless you have a work cafeteria with really healthy options (rare) then you are going to be sucked into getting less healthy foods, and more than likely paying more for them! So bag your own lunch, you can put a little treat of chocolate in there, but also have a sandwich and some fruit and maybe some nuts, that is healthy, tasty and cheap too!
Don’t be afraid of discounted goods - There is no need to shy away from discounted goods, as long as you are going to use them promptly after purchase then they are usually perfect, and they will save you a bundle as the supermarkets just want to get rid of them to make more space so they give huge discounts. Find out when they start to discount the bakery goods and then you can time your visits by that and grab some bargain bagels etc ready for your lunch the next day.
Don’t forget you can get fruit and veg that is discounted too, just make sure you have a good look through and only choose the items in the best condition, then take your bargains home and use them asap.
Buy straight from the farmer - There are usually farmers markets around if you look, and if you have farms near you then they may have their own shops right on site. This means not only do you get great tasting healthy food that hasn’t been transported across the country and loaded with preservatives, but you also get it cheaper too as they don’t have to sell it to a big supermarket chain for pennies who then load the price up.
There you have some quick and easy ways to give yourself and your family a healthier diet, and in the end you could actually be saving money! Don’t jump in with both feet and try to do all these things at once though or you’ll be overwhelmed, instead gradually add them in over the course of a year, and it’ll gradually become second nature and you’ll wonder how you ever managed before!
If you really want to be more healthy then you need to start introducing exercise into your lifestyle as well as healthier food, check out this Fat Burning Furnace review to see a popular exercise system.

The Nutritious Strawberries – Eat More of Them
Strawberries are very tasty to eat. Did you know that they carried many health benefits as well?
First of all, they are very nutritious, like other fruits and berries. They contain vitamin C and lots of antioxidants.
It is believed that the presence of antioxidants is responsible for the bright red color of strawberries. These antioxidants help in fighting free radicals.
What exactly are free radicals? These are elements which can damage cells of the body, and might even contribute to cancer. So, eating strawberries can help in avoiding cancer.
The good things about strawberry do not end here. These little beauties also contain potassium, manganese, magnesium, vitamin B5, B6 and K as well as omega-3 fatty acids.
They are absolutely packed with important nutrients which are very useful for your body. The good thing is that strawberries are very tasty to eat too, which makes it easy to include them in regular meals.
FDA organization has recommended people to increase their intake of fruits and vegetables. But many people are not willing to do so.
People have got used to eating junk and unhealthy foods that they crave for such foods only. They do not want to eat fresh fruits or vegetables.
So, we are missing out on such lovely and useful foods due to our junk food habit. If we want to regain our health, we have to break this destructive habit.
What better way to start than with strawberries. They are small and can be eaten quite easily. They are delicious, juicy and come in bright red colors.
Their looks might be very appealing to small children. So, we can inculcate this habit in children quite easily by encouraging them to eat fruits on regular basis.
Ripe strawberries are best and have the highest nutrient density. Unfortunately, strawberries do not ripen after they are picked from trees – unlike other fruits.
So make sure to choose the ripest and reddest strawberries. You have to eat them within a few days otherwise they will rot. They are very easily perishable and cannot be stored for many days. It is best to store them in refrigerator as they can last for a few days there.
Wash them thoroughly before eating. If a strawberry shows signs of mold, it should be immediately discarded as it can damage the other strawberries around it.
The good news is that you can, with little practice, start including more fruits and vegetables in your diet. It is not difficult to do so.
You can reap enormous benefits by eating more fruits and vegetables. You can start small and slowly add more of them in your daily diet. Why not start with strawberries first?

What You Should Know About Natural Sweeteners and Artificial Sweeteners
Finding a sugar substitute that is healthy without negative side effects is a challenge. There are many choices and with the clever marketing and conflicting arguments it is difficult to determine what direction is best for you. Fortunately there is a lot of information available to help in making the right choice. Here are a few quick thoughts and facts you can use in your search.
When considering sugar substitutes there are two very distinct directions you can go. You can go with a man made artificial or an all natural sweetener. Each have their own side effects or benefits to consider. Artificial sweeteners are specifically engineered to provide some particular benefit, but I don’t know that we have figured out how to create a chemical that provides that benefit without causing another side effect. Even natural sweeteners will have different benefits and side effects to consider. You will need to decide which works best for you.
There is a large supply of artificial sweeteners available on the market these days. Most of them are based on two popular artificial sweeteners, Sucralose and Aspartame. These sweeteners are designed to be calorie free or at least trick your body into treating it like something with no caloric value. The reports are conflicting at times but there seems to be mounting evidence, especially with Aspartame, that major side effects include migraines, stomach upset, seizures in some people and others. You might also consider the fact that cooking with these sweeteners will provide different results. Aspartame will break down in the heat and cannot be cooked with at all. Sucralose will stand the heat but because of the filler required it will leave your foods dry and undesirable in texture. There is a lot of money in finding the right sugar substitute and with big money comes big marketing campaigns designed to convince you against the truth. Be careful to consider the long term effects.
Quickly catching up in popularity are the all natural sweeteners. Some of them you may have heard of are Erythritol, Xylitol, Mannitol, Sorbitol and Stevia. All of these are 100% natural and sweet to the taste. However, just because it is all natural doesn’t mean it won’t have side effects. Three of the above mentioned seem to stand out as better alternatives to sugar; Erythritol, Xylitol and Stevia. Xylitol and Stevia will cause digestion issues if you aren’t careful with the quantity you consume. Erythritol however is digested differently by the body and will not cause gastric pain. Another nice benefit of Erythritol is that it is the only one that doesn’t promote tooth decay and it is the only one on the list to be zero calorie.
Erythritol is found in many fruits and vegetables and is about 70% sweet as sugar. As mentioned earlier it has zero calories and digests in the small intestine leaving your body through your urine not causing gas pains like many other natural products. Erythritol is also a great choice for diabetics because it will not cause a rise in your blood sugar levels. You can find Erythritol online or in a store and use it alone as a sweetener with great benefit. There are also a few companies now that are finding super sweet natural ingredients and blending that with Erythritol to bring the sweetness up to that of sugar. Because if its physical properties it is also great for cooking and can in fact be measured cup for cup like sugar.
This article represents only an extremely small part of the opinions and considerations to filter through. It is clear that my choice is Erythritol, but that is because I have done the research and tried the products. Hopefully my explanation of the process of eliminating artificial sweeteners as too dangerous from your list of options and the rationale used to determine Eyrithritol as the lucky winner will help you follow a similar path.

Antioxidant Drinks – Upgrade to a Healthier Cup of Joe
Antioxidant Drinks include coffee which most Americans seem to crave as soon as the sun starts to shine. It may be one of the most popular drinks in the world by now. Its stimulating effects seem to get people motivated to start their day.
Coffee does come with its share of problems and side effects. The most well known problem is caffeine and is responsible for that overwhelming feeling that coffee sometimes gives you. Your digestive system takes a beating every time you drink a cup of coffee and coffee can interfere with the absorption of vital nutrients.
Coffee does have a good side and that would be that it contains antioxidants.
Why Do We Need Antioxidants?
Antioxidants consist of a group of substances such as vitamins, minerals, flavonoids, enzymes and amino acids that prevent cell oxidation and thus prevent damage to your healthy cells.
Antioxidants work to neutralize free radicals before they do harm to our bodies.
Toxic substances such as pesticides, chemicals, radiation, pollution, drugs and alcohol all take a toll on our bodies and create free radicals.
Antioxidants work by donating an electron to convert free radicals to harmless molecules. This donation of an electron by antioxidants protects your cells from oxidative damage that leads to aging and various diseases.
Antioxidant Drinks Joins with a Medicinal Mushroom
The Reishi Mushroom has joined forces with coffee to produce a much better and safer coffee drink. The reishi mushroom has quite a track record as being one of the most powerful herbs.
The Reishi Mushroom is a medicinal mushroom and it is also known as Ganoderma Lucidum. This mushroom has a 2000 to 4000 year record of being used in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
This herb has numerous names and in China was known as Ling Zhi or “Herb of Spiritual Potency” and because of its incredible healing powers it was also called “Mushroom of Immortality”.
It is known for fixing such health disorders as heart problems, diabetes, and digestive distress. These are only a few of the ailments that can be helped with the hundreds of nutrients and wealth of antioxidants found in reishi.
This medicinal mushroom helps your body remove the build-up of toxins and allows your body’s natural immune system to strengthen itself.
Healthy Coffee compared to Normal Coffee
Since drinking regular coffee seems to upset your body’s ability to digest your meals, the triterpenoids found in Healthy Coffee could be very beneficial to your digestion.
You will be able to keep a better pH balance with the alkaloids found in Healthy Coffee.
The adaptogens in healthy coffee help to reduce the stimulating effects of caffeine, as regular coffee will exhaust your adrenal system.
My Very Own Experience
I don’t know why I let myself run out of Healthy Coffee, but I do and then I have to drink the regular stuff. Boy, do I notice the side effects and have to pay the price of extreme agitation and acidity.
Even the world’s best tasting coffee comes with side effects and gives me too many problems!
When I first starting drinking Healthy Coffee, I thought the caffeine had been taken out as there wasn’t much of a stimulating effect as there was an energy producing effect.
Sometimes I have to work late into the night and crave some extra energy. I’m actually able to get away with drinking a cup of this coffee late in the evening and still getting a good night’s sleep.
Healthy Coffee is one of the most powerful antioxidant drinks and really does help with the acidity problem. It doesn’t seem to upset my digestion like drinking regular coffee surely will.
The smooth taste of this coffee doesn’t leave that lingering coffee taste in your mouth and give you bad coffee breath.
Have your coffee and drink it too. This coffee gives you the coffee experience without so much the coffee problems. It is worth giving it a try.

How Can Fruits And Vegetables Incorporate Into Your Life As A 5 A Day
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) promotes a healthy lifestyle of eating five portions of fruits & veggies each day.5 A day is a slogan that sounds great, but how can we actually integrate this into a child’s life?
We start by recognizing what’s at stake. Children face more and more health issues each year. The reports of childhood allergies, diabetes, or even immune deficiencies continue to grow. Then there are the kids who are just generally sick or overweight.
From the start, pregnant moms often forget to eat a healthy diet in favor of what’s most “convenient”. But getting your children started eating right begins in the womb. If babies experience healthy foods in utero and at the breast, they’ll be more likely to want them later in their lives too. And not only that, children who are fed right from the beginning will be healthier and stronger throughout their lives.
Everyone has a great understanding about fruit and vegetable nutrition and their benefits for children; however, many don’t place importance on developing good eating habits throughout pregnancy. We talk about supplements and specific foods that are important to eat for a healthy child’s development, but we never educate pregnant moms on healthy, balanced and nutritious meals. If we did so, then the milk produced by the mother would be so much more balanced and rich in disease-preventing, immune-building essentials.
But how do we incorporate the CDC’s suggested 5 A Day of fruits and vegetables when there are opportunities for junk food at every turn? Or when life gets too busy to take the time 5 A Day seems to require?
Having kids is hard. It changes our lives in so many ways. Instead of keeping healthy eating a priority, it is something that falls by the wayside for so many busy families. We seem to forget how important healthy eating really is – for ourselves and our children.
For example, fast food and eating on the go are more convenient. We ignore the fact that they cause damage to our own bodies and to the welfare of our children. Instead of us instilling good eating habits in our children, we take shortcuts, dropping by for a sausage and egg biscuit on the way to work or picking up pizza for dinner. I understand that most of us are always on the go and it is difficult to cook meals regularly. But there are tons and tons of activities we choose over spending time in the kitchen.
So what solutions are available to us? First, although it is often hard to cook meals regularly, we need to recognize the importance of doing it anyway. Fixing a good healthy meal at home puts the control in our hands and enables us to give our kids the 5 A Day they need. Take an inventory of all the things you choose to do rather than eat at home. You may be able to find a way to make some time – for the good of your family.
Healthy eating is not a fad. It is not to be a once in a while treat. 5 A Day and eating healthy must become a habitual part of our lifestyle. Ultimately, our health and our quality of life depend on it. When we choose healthy eating and healthy living, we extend our quality of life and extend our ability to live a normal life. All of this starts with a simple change in our eating habits.
So don’t delay! Start implementing a healthy diet for your family today, and soon you’ll be including five servings of fruits and vegetable on a regular basis. 5 A Day can mean a healthier family for you.

What Are Healthy Breakfast Foods
At the start of each day it is essential to give our bodies the nutrients needed to keep our bodies functioning through the daily demands. If we don’t eat what our bodies need our body will begin to tell us so and most likely you will end up eating something you shouldn’t. Skipping breakfast is not an effective way to lose weight or manage health.
By getting the healthy breakfast foods first thing in the morning we are able to perform at a much better level. Our appetites will not be for candy or sweets because our body is full and focused on the tasks of the morning. In order to stay satisfied your body wants the energy you are asking of it. If you are filling it with candy or sweets or other empty calories you cannot be healthy.
The healthy breakfast foods are those full of nutrient rich ingredients. Whole foods, like fruits and vegetables and whole wheat grain products are full of nutrition that will sustain your body with the need energy. Those foods advertised as fast and convenient are usually low in substance with add-in vitamins that look good on the box but there is nothing to them. Your stomach never gets full because there is no substance.
Typical breakfast food advertised so heavily is nothing more than sugar. You can look at the nutrition information and see that it has as they claim x number of essential vitamins, but if you look closer you will also see that it is no where near what your body needs to sustain an active lifestyle or even a semi-active lifestyle. Boxed cereals are typically NOT healthy breakfast foods.
The breakfast foods that don’t smash into nothing that will fill your stomach and last the morning through are the real healthy breakfast foods. Of course a steak and egg breakfast every morning isn’t going to be too healthy either but it will at least give you the energy you need. If you do like a hardy meal in the morning make sure and check your fat content because that’s the part that will kill you. Control your portion size and don’t over indulge yourself. The idea is to eat the amount of food you body will need until you have time for that next meal. Steak and eggs isn’t necessarily bad for most people, it’s just when you eat too much of it that it’s bad.
When you are looking for healthy breakfast foods, take the time to compare the nutritional facts. They are hard to read sometimes, but if you take the time to learn a little about it and actually compare you will quickly learn how to pick out the good stuff from the garbage. Keep in mind that the advertisers are trying to convince you how healthy their products are, so don’t listen to the loud screaming ads on the box, look at the facts. Many of the vitamins and minerals are there because they can be put in in supplemental form but the hardy ingredients that will give you the substance you need will be those higher in protein, fiber and whole grains.
