A High Quality Coffee Drink Worth A Try

During a recent encounter with an old friend who was visiting from California, the subject of coffee came up. We’re both avid drinkers and enjoy discussing some of our favorites.

I had recently become enamored with a new coffee shop that opened up near my home, as I’ve never tried better coffee in my life. While he had never been there, he was fully convinced that a coffee establishment near his apartment in San Francisco was even better. He was willing to back up this claim by sending me some.

He was up to two cups per day, and he had never had coffee on a daily basis before this. He couldn’t help himself, as he truly loved the taste of these beans.

As a big fan of the drink myself, I decided that I was going that to try this coffee if there was any way that I could. This wouldn’t be too difficult, as he quickly offered to mail me some once he got home.

Just a week later, I was lucky enough to receive this package. I excitedly opened it up to see a bag off coffee beans from Blue Bottle coffee, and they smelled absolutely great.

I don’t have a coffee maker at home, but this wasn’t a problem. Being the thoughtful friend that he is, he decided to crush the beans in advance for me.

You’re probably wondering about the verdict. Is San Francisco’s Blue Bottle coffee as good as the hype it gets? Well, if you run an online search, you’ll see scores of people swearing up and down by this coffee.

I have to say that this was some great coffee. While I’m not sure that it’s the best I’ve ever had, it’s definitely up there. Anyone on the West Coast or anyone willing to mail order some coffee beans would do fine to try this company’s beans.

Anxiety – Therapy and Counseling

It is not easy to deal with panic attacks or anxiety. These are problems that have a deep affect on the quality of your life. Seeking the right treatment to turn around the damaging effects is essential. Help from a qualified professional in the mental health field is one of the most common ways.

Therapy and counseling are utilized to get to the psychological roots of the anxiety. Tips On Making A Homemade Hydroponics System

Make Your Own Homemade Hydroponics System

It used to be that hydroponics were thought of as being something used by regular people far into the future, but that is not true anymore. Many of today’s home gardeners are using hydroponic systems in order to grow different plants and vegetables to supplement their grocery consumption on a regular basis. Hydroponic systems that are purchased ready made are usually very expensive. You can make your own Homemade Hydroponics System easy and inexpensively.

In a hydroponic system one grows plants with absolutely no soil at all. Plants are placed in what is called a medium that would not be considered soil and get nutrients from a liquid. Because there is no soil to deal with hydroponics is a clean system and you can grow plants year round. Creating your own system is very inexpensive and you will also save on the food bill because you are growing some of your own food even in the winter.

One easy method of hydroponics is referred to as the Wick Method. Here liquid with nutrients is sucked up by nylon rope into the pots of the plants that have been inserted into a planting medium. You do not need much to achieve this method and nothing costs much money.

You will need a plastic storage tub that is a dark color. The dark color is needed to because algae will not grow in something that is dark, it needs the sun. Another tub is also needed that fits into the other tub that will hold the pots. You can get the same color or any color you desire. Also needed is a few yards of one half inch rope in nylon. An aquarium air pump is necessary in order to keep the nutrient solution oxygenated. Pots that will fit into the tub and filled with planting medium is needed. Planting medium can be pebbles made of clay or use vermiculite and perlite in equal combination. When growing indoors you can not get enough sunlight from outside sources so you will need grow lights.

Each pot will need a length of the roping. Put one end of the rope through the hole in the bottom of each pot then place some of the medium in while holding the rope up. You want the rope to be in and amongst the roots of the plant and the other end will dangle a few inches to a foot below. Place the plants in the medium. In your tub that will hold the plants you will need to drill a half inch hole under where each of the plants will be situated. Pull the rope that dangles out of the pot through the hole so it dangles into the solution once you place the plant tub in the solution tub.

The only maintenance needed to keep this wick system going is to be sure the bottom tub has enough solution in it. Check at least once a week and better two times a week but this will depend on how much your plants drink. Grow your own lettuce and tomatoes and other vegetables so you will not have to go to the grocery and pay big bucks during the off season.

For the last two years I have been rigorously examining Master Herbalist Colleges who also offer degrees such as a Holistic Health Practitioner and here is my review.

In this Master Herbalist review, I’m going to speak about three online colleges that offer holistic courses and what you should be looking for in a naturopathic college. The accredited online colleges are:

Global College of Natural Medicine ( GCNM ), The Natural Healing College, and Clayton College of Natural Health

GCNM will NOT help you get a job after you graduate and do not offer an internship program.

Natural Healing College -NHC offers a vast range of holistic courses, but they DO NOT require you to mail in your tests. Your tests results are instant which means you can complete your online degree fast!

Another Great thing about the Natural Healing College is that their Masters Degree program is a Fraction the price of the other schools such as Clayton College of health medicine. We should also mention that, their School Of Naturopathy is probably the best on the planet and they will also help with Internships and getting you a job.

Once you have completed your academic requirements from the Natural Healing College they will help you get into a great Internship program and will help you land a job or open your own practice or Career In Nutrition And Holistic health.

Dieting – An Update – Losing 10 Pounds Now

A good weight loss programme can be put in place simply by keeping a food diary. Begin by consuming your regular diet for seven days. Write down everything you eat and drink (be honest!) throughout the day. When a week has passed, analyse the contents of your diary. Try to identify any patterns where poor food choices are more evident.

Patently if your record shows a higher consumption of alcohol or fatty foods than you’d realised, you might begin by reducing those initially. Maybe your diet looks pretty good. But if you’re too heavy then you’re probably eating too much of it. Whether it’s the first or the second situation, you’ll be able to see how to adjust your intake from the entries in the diary.

Write down an Action Plan for the next week. On a blank page, write down detailed notes to cover the following: With regard to food, note what you can’t eat, and what you’ll only eat occasionally. Then make a list of food that you can eat freely.

Next comes drink – which often contains more calories than people imagine. Restrict alcoholic beverages to four small drinks a week, and write down the days you will have them. Rule out all sweet carbonated drinks. You’ll need to commit to a fitness regime, so next write in your diary which days you plan to exercise and how.

Make a note of your weight before you commence this programme. Assess your progress each week, and adjust where necessary. It’s tempting to get on the scales every few days – don’t. Keep it to once every seven days, first thing in the morning.

With a plan like this, you’re in complete control. It’s a good idea to add useful comments each day to illustrate what’s helpful and what’s not. Mark down which days you completed your proposed exercises. Monitoring your weight and health is so much more manageable with a personal record.

It’s vital however not to look for an instantaneous result. Although you may not be able to see evidence of weight loss in the first couple of weeks, you should be starting to feel fitter. Try to exercise patience, and do persevere. Motivating yourself over a long period has it’s challenges – but if you concentrate on the prize instead of the price it becomes much easier.

If you lose your way for a short while, try to get back on track quickly. It could be that you should look at altering your diet. There are some relatively easy ways to introduce more exercise. A thirty minute routine three times a week is a good habit to get into.

Be proud of your achievements. Your efforts will be much more sustainable if you do. New clothes may need to wait until your goals have been reached. But what about booking the best seats in the house when you’re quarter or half-way there?

Forget Diets Over The Holidays

Changing your focus from dieting to living healthy during the holidays boosts the chances of maintaining your perfect weight.

“Many of us will gain at least five pounds from the middle of October through New Year’s Day,” said Stefanie Barthmare, a psychotherapist with the Methodist Weight Management Center in Houston. “Because weight gain is gradual, we don’t realize the damage of our indulgences right away. But the scale tells all when the holidays are over. That’s why “lose weight” is at the top of our New Year’s resolution every year.”

Barthmare says stop counting every calorie and restricting yourself from your holiday favorites and instead try focusing on the core elements of living a healthy lifestyle, i.e. staying active in your everyday life.

“If you can’t get to the gym, do whatever it takes to move your body. Walk the dog more, plan a walking coffee break at work, play in the yard with the kids after dinner, or throw the football around with your brothers,” Barthmare said. “Plan an active, rather than a passive vacation this holiday season. If you normally go somewhere to sit, read and eat, plan a trip where you hike, bike or ski. Learn a new sport just for fun, and notice the impact on your waistline.”

Have a plan for days when there will be high calorie meals and possibly stressful family gatherings that cause you to eat comfort foods. Not planning is what leads to trouble.

“The once-a-year mentality contributes to overindulgence, which eventually leads to weight gain,” Barthmare said. “You can still have a serving of grandma’s stuffing or mom’s apple pie, the stuff you only get once a year, but it’s important to develop a strategy. Filling up on more high fiber, high volume foods earlier in the day will give yourself a better chance of maintaining your weight. Also, then there’s not as much room for the seconds at dessert.”

Another way to avoid overindulgence is to turn the focus of holiday gatherings away from food and to connecting with family and friends. Put more emphasis on finding out what others have been doing, what you have in common and how you can support one another at holiday functions.

“If you’ve been dieting all year long, you’re going to want to cut loose during the holidays and indulge in all your favorite treats,” Barthmare said. “But, this year, try switching the focus. Eat well all year, keep your body moving and make time for connections. Then you can have some guilt free holiday indulgences without sacrificing the goal of maintaining your perfect weight.
