The latest research has learnt that people who are overweight in general have a smaller amount of calcium in their diet than people who are of a healthy weight.
People on diets who consume the recommended daily amount or more of calcium tends to lose far more weight than those who eat smaller amounts of calcium. The weight loss also tends to be from particular parts of the body – mainly the stomach and waist area which is, interestingly, from where just about all of dieters want to lose it.
Whilst this research is certainly interesting, it is fair to say that no one actually knows how calcium and weight loss are linked. It does appear to be the case that there is indeed a connection. It seems that overweight people are not getting the necessary amount of calcium that their bodies require.
What is the reason for this? Well, it is a known fact that when you do not eat enough, your body tries to compensate by saving and storing as much fat as possible. It also seems that it does the same if your intake of calcium is low, no matter how much, or indeed how little, other stuff you are consuming.
Researchers believe that when you do not ingest enough calcium it causes changes in the bodies fat-storing profile and hormonal changes too, all of which leads to you gaining weight.
Only when you begin to restore the body’s calcium balance does your body begin to reverse the fat storage allowing you to begin losing weight.
So ok, now you know that if you require to lose weight you require take on board the recommended day-to-day quantity of calcium. But this is merely part of the story. If your body does not absorb the calcium correctly, it won’t matter how much of it you ingest.
So, how can you assist your body to absorb the calcium you provide it? Well, a well balanced vitamin intake is necessary. And the very best vitamin for assisting calcium absorption is vitamin D.
There is a form of calcium supplement that can be taken and is absorbed by the body more readily than any others and that is coral calcium.
The main benefit of coral calcium is that it contains 73 trace elements and minerals that are essential to your health.
There clearly does appear to be a link between calcium intake and weight loss and if you would prefer to take your calcium in supplement form, then there does appear to be potential benefits to selecting coral calcium.
